Low Voltage

I have a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 6cyl when it gets hot out side like around 90 or more it discharges or runs extremely low voltage. When the temp is 70 or less it runs between 13 and 14 volts of charge right where it should be. I ran a diagnostic check on it and the code said that the battery temp sensor is bad. It is my understanding that this sensor is in the computer is there a way to reset it or by pass it or do I have to replace the computer.

The battery temp sensor is located under the battery mounted on the tray. When you replace the sensor, make sure that the surface of the sensor is touching the battery surface for an accurate reading of the battery temp. Welcome to Jeepz.com.

Have them check on the 94 models. Some of the 93 builds has the 94 components depending on the Vin breakpoint during production. Also check to see if you do in fact have this sensor on the tray. If not, let me know.

I pulled the battery and the tray the only thing I found is a vacuum box it appears to be for the cruse I found no sensor. Do you have any ideas as, I said on a cool day it puts out 14 volts or just under on a hot day it is down around 10 or even less I am lost. Thanks for any help you can give me.

After a little bit of research, i've learned that the BTS is internal to the PCM and it also disables the
EGR operation and obd2 monitors during cold ambient temperatures. Before you replace the PCM, make sure all the connectors are seated properly to the PCM and generator and test to verify that the condition still exist.
