what a difference. you wouldnt think 3" is that much

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v438/jeepless20/Jeep/100_0039.jpg

well thats it for the rear. I posted them as links 'couse the pics are huge (3264x2448) and im too lazy to resize. besides, i wanted to show off the quality of my new camera

THE FRONT.

The front was a smidge more difficult with all the stearing linkages and whatnots. but all is well.

stock sucks. real ratty looking for 16 years old
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v438/jeepless20/Jeep/100_0054.jpg

stay calm, just pull it out of the way. this one had me all frazzled
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v438/jeepless20/Jeep/100_0090-1.jpg

note the point ware the control arm contacts the shock/spring pearch. that is why you put the springs in first, the axle wont droop far enough to simply slide the spring in, gotta take a pry bar to the spring and wedge it in.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v438/jeepless20/Jeep/100_0120.jpg

not too much difference in phisical lenth. these springs get 2/3 there lift from being stiffer.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v438/jeepless20/Jeep/100_0119.jpg

oops. axle's a little off center
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v438/jeepless20/Jeep/100_0116.jpg

all in all she tuned out pretty good. looks alot better and im hoping wheels better too.

Looks good, saved the hardest for last ;)

A friend of mine put the rear 3" on first and drove it, got a ticket for the large height difference between front and rear bumpers

Did you yank the (rear) trackbar? I did on my 2000 XJ and it still handled better after the lift.

Looks like a good start ;)

the sway bar? i did. thinking about yanking the front one too, but im not too sure about that one. and another thing. why on gods greenish colored earth would thay supply you with a trackbar relocation bracket for the front and foget to mention how to hang on to new nut on the other end in that little itty bitty hole. cripes even the stock bolt was connected to a plate with a handle on it. but nooooo! the new bolt dont fit the old nut. and the new bolt dont fit in the holt for the track bar itself. oh my goodness i thing i gave myself a hemerage. ill figure it out eventualy.

yeah the sway bar. Kinda tough to remove a rear tracbar on an XJ seeing how they don't have them

I'd just get disconnects for the front swaybar. You'll have alot of body roll without it on the road. A good set of disco's aren't too expensive, and a cheap set will work, although they might be a little noisy and harder to connect and disconnect. I'd go with JKS for easy, quiet operation ;)

8) Half way there, way cool. Looks like july is going to be too busy for wheelin for me. The dang carpenters strike threw a big wrench in the schedule. I have the first weekend in aug planned to get back to Browns Camp. Maybe see you there.8)

im purt near done with the front now. all i have to do is drill a hole for the track bar relocation bracket and toss the shocks on and its done. although the new shocks didnt come with new pins to mount to the axle so i have to either figure out how to get the old ones out or get new ones. dag gum 4 wheel parts is closed today, that sucks but hay the Jeep gods have been good to me so far, something good will happen.

Couple of things. I would keep the front swaybar, it really helps out a coil spring suspension when it comes to proper onroad handling. You can generally get away with it on leaf springs, but not coils.

Consider redrilling the hole for the lower mount to the front trackbar, about 1/2" to the drivers side. With the lower mount disconnected, make sure the axle is centered after the lift is done. Swing the trackbar up into place and you'll see where to redrill the hole parallel to the lower hole.

The front trackbar drop bracket makes the trackbar too steep and generally induces bad bumpsteer.

Bumpsteer and death wobble are two totally different problems.

yes.

I always thought that I somehow avoided the DW on my lifted XJ by not screwing with the tracbar.
I never had a moments trouble out of it after the lift and I think that had something to do with it.

here's a thought. i was lurking around the RE site yesterday and thay have a frame side track bar drop, dont know if thay have a 3" version or not but that would be something i could look into as i want there track bar itself too, and there steering likage, and there LCAs. crap, i should have gotten a RE lift. oh well, 600 bucks aint bad. and a little bit more ruff ride wont bother me none.

ill have to see what happens. if its too bad ill see what i can change. anyway, its done. slaping the tires on now. all i need now is a jump start couse my battery is dead. 4-5 hours a day with the CB and amp on listening to all the hash and trash on 17 and talking to the good ol boys on 20 will do that.

pics comming sooooon

first post updated with front install and final pics... enjoy

I say we start a collection to get you a new pair of jackstands

Consider removing some of the axlebracket where it binds against the lower control arm, it'll bind here if you wheel it.
