Liberty Fuel Filter

Hello,

I have a 2006 Liberty V6 & have heard that the fuel filter is mounted internally in the fuel tank. I assume that because of this, it is designed to last longer & does not have to be changed as often as vehicles with filters on the outside. That said, how often is it recommended that it be changed, & can it be done at home or does a local dealer/mechanic have to do it?

Thanks.....

The fuel filter is supposed to be a lifetime filter, and not need replacing (although I'm not really sure how that's possible). You can change it by either dropping the gas tank down from your vehicle, or opening up an access panel in the back (this involves pulling carpet, cutting off some insulation, and drilling out some rivets).

I've never done it, but this doesn't seem too hard
