I am starting to fab my new air intake and I went to buy the K&N filter today. The filter didn't come with a boot to attach anything to. Is there anyone out there that used a K&N for a custom job? Did it come with the rubber part? if not, how did you attach it to the pipe? Any help would be great![addsig]

There should be just a little rubber part with a worm clamp. It should be about 3" ID. Also, the filter I bought is the cone type with the flat head, not pointy.[addsig]

heres somthing cheaper and easyer and supposevly a better filter, go to a rice rocket shop and get a reactive conefilter they come with a heat sheild, also they have the end peice that you are talking about, but bigT is right you must have been looking at one for a sepcific automobile instead of the universal cone filter the reactive one that i speek of is only 45.00 and the last k&n that i put on my dokota was almost 60.00, i have also used and airaid filter and between all of them i could not tell anydifference in quality just aslong as you keep it oiled well hope this helps

I would agree, I would rather buy a cheap import cone filter than splurge for the K&N. There isn't a whole lot of difference, maybe 1 or 2 horse. I have a K & N on my Camaro and love it, don't get me wrong, but in hindsite, I would buy a cheap cone filter and fabricate my own intake track/tube. Save the extra $$ for some other mods for the Jeep!![addsig]

My K&N cone universal filter was also only $45! Boy was I surprised, I thought it was going to be about $60 or more. My whole set up cost under $60 from start to finish[addsig]

You need a K&N Filter # RU-0960

check out this link

www.rockcrawler.com

click on tech on the left and then scroll down to the motor and drivetrain section. The last item is K&N filter conversion. Unfortunately the way they setup the site all that ever appears is the main page and it never shows the links so I couldn't cut n paste the exact link.

This is a good site. Shows low budget sway bar disconnects which I have used.

The conical K&N is about $30 from www.rustysoffroad.com and about another $20 or $30 for the airtube to connect the filter to the TB. $60 ain't bad to avoid having the headache of fabbing one up
