K link steering

Call me a skeptic, but I'm not sure I'd trust my life to this. It's like lift blocks for steering:

currupt, yeah I still run a front track bar... it's a daily driver! I heard it's really dangerous to go high speeds without one.

Bounty, where did you get that pic from? Is that from the kit that I was speaking of? It does look a little... iffy. I couldn't really see the new knuckles on there site. I just noticed that pic is from jeepsunlimited.com... I gotta figure out what to do so I can oder the parts monday first thing. Any other suggestions? Thanks

I ran without one forever when I still daily drove. Almost everyone I know ditches it and still hits the highway with it. It's a different story on a TJ though.

HAHAHA... thats held on with grade 3 bolts...

Jesse, I have no sway bars, no track bars, and byply tires are balanced with air soft bebe's and I cruise along at 70 mph no problem. Ditch the track bars. Track bars are ment to locate the axle side to side.. you have leaf springs, really not needed.

Also, if you hae a drop arm on ther and need one that is not a full drop, I have a XJ arm, all yours, it is I think 1.5" lower than a stock YJ one.

Well, I purchased a kit... I went for the Rocky-Road one. It does seem like lift blocks for steering but it does seem well engineered and the M.O.R.E. kit has the same thing but leaves the lower tie rod below the springs. Not to mention they don't come powder coated and the kit is 100 bucks more.
I also went for a full kit because the tie rods and drag link that I have now are pretty much junk and need replacing anyway. The TRE are not stock jeep ends either, they are actually Chevy TRE which is a big plus. When ordering the kit they told me that the bolts were Grade 8 that came with the kit... if they arn't then I will put grade 8 on.
Of course I would like to have a D44 up front at least, but then I would have to regear and put a new carrier in and all that... I can't do that now, not until it's my second mode of transport anyway.
I will let you know how it all goes, I think I made the right choice... thanks for all the input though, I really appreciate your time.

John, I don't think I need that pitman arm yet... I kept my stock YJ arm and I have a dropped on the jeep now, I will let you know though, thanks.

The only problem I see in the pic above is the el-cheapo bolts. The design is probably stronger than the cast knuckle anyhow.
BTW...when you put your bolts on, spend the .25 extra cents and use nylock nuts, with the nut on the bottom side. I have seen people turn the bolts upside down with the nut on the top (standard nut), and then saw that same bolt fall out as we were doing about 30 down a county road. Not cool. Result was an encounter with a shallow ditch and concrete culvert pipe. Luckily no one was hurt, damage was limited to a blown out 42 and a bent beadlock wheel.

Good thought Rooster, thanks. I'm curious to see what they give me for hardware since the picture contradicts the website. At least I can afford the extra 25 cents!

Well I got the Rocky Road High steer kit yesterday... these parts are friggin beefy! I am planning on making it a Thanksgiving weekend project, it's pretty straight forward. But now it looks like my AGR steering box is leaking. The box is not even 3 years old and cost almost 4 bills.

AGR is getting a call from me.

Anyway, if people would like pictures of the parts or install I can do that. I'll probably be taking pics anyway.

...Oh and all the bolts that came with it are Grade 8 along with those nylon nuts Rooster.

Hey guys, I'm looking to upgrade my steering linkage and I found this... what do you think?

Full-Traction Suspension K-Link Steering System for 87-95 Jeep® Wrangler YJ - Quadratec

It basically puts an idler arm in the mix, gets rid of the trac bar, and puts a shackle reversal on the jeep. All the tie rod ends are put at less of an angle than I have now by a long shot.

Here is another link...
Full-Traction Suspension System Kit - 4 Wheel Drive & Sport Utility Magazine

Thoughts?

thanks
