RE: Received this from KY Outback Adventure Park

Hey Everyone,
I just bought an 05 JGC 4x4 Laredo (white) last month and now its time to get some rims for my new baby!!!

I am completely lost on learning what will fit on my cherokee and what wont...

I heard 22s will fit but i think that is too big and dont know how bad it will affect the performance of my car...

I've decided to go with 20s....I'm looking to spend 2-3 Gs for wheels and tires...What do u guys think i should go with? Brands, etc? As in the words of Paris Hilton, Whats "hot"??

Any ideas on where i should shop? Is online better than going locally?
I am in Philly by the way...

Thanx u guys and thank you for having me...

RE: How do I take the doors off?

Well, I'll start by saying no one here has any big wheels on their Jeeps. Only big tires.

Are you sure you don't want some big mud tires instead of 20's??

But if you're set on big wheels, the size of the tire makes a difference on what will fit. If you get real low-profile tires, 22's should fit fine...depending on the backspacing, etc. What I would do is go to a local tire/wheel place (preferably a BIG, brand name place) and see if they will try some different wheel/tire's out on your Jeep. With my daily drivers, that's what I always do--since I'm always cramming in the biggest possible wheels I can.

Welcome to Jeepz as well.

On the 2-3 thousand dollars, here is what I would do.

$1500.00 will get you some sweeeet meats(tires to off roaders) and wheels, try National Tire and Wheel, in Wheeling WV, great package deals and sometimes free mounting, balancing and shipping.

I would recommend spendig the other $1500 on a 3 or 4.5 inch lift, shocks, safari rack and a ton of off-road lights, but I am not sure what is out there for the 05 IFS yet.

BTW, did you get the Hemi??

Just my humble opinion..

If you want some advice on putting big rims on your Jeep, you probably are not going to find much experience here. I don't mean this to discourage you from being a member here, but I can't remember one instance when anyone has talked about putting big rims on their Jeep on this board. Those kind of Jeep owners are out there, but not so much on this board. Good luck, and congrats on the new purchase. Post a pic when you get it done.

you might try www.jeepsunlimited.com or some other lowrider site for better info. most of the people here lift their jeeps and put on bigger tires for offroading. but if dubs are the way you want to go, we're glad to help, but some other site might be more helpful. like i said, try to find some lowrider truck sites, they're probably more adept at suggesting wheels of that sort.

Most respectible aftermarket parts place have computer programs where they will either take a picture of your jeep or have a factory pic and you can try out different rims and tire combos. Remember the thinner the tire you go with, the more comfort you are giving up. If your from an area with alot of pot holes and bad roads I wouldnt go with 22s. You will probably be fine with 20s.

RE: new purchase

there was a place my friend just went to to get 19's (i think) on his new '05 caddy STS, they said he could drive them for a day to make sure it was the look he wanted. though, i doubt this is the norm for tire places, but damn does it look sweet. pictures are HUGE so i wont post em though.
