JK Alarm System Problem?

So I just bought an 07 JK from Carmax today. It's my second Jeep (I had a 97 TJ) but I can't seem to figure out the security system.

Basically, every time I step out of the car and use the power locks to lock the doors, it arms the security system. And because I don't have a remote key, I have to use the manual unlocking. For some reason, when I unlock the doors manually and then open the door, the alarm sounds, and only disarms after I've put the key in the ignition.

Is there a workaround to this problem or a wire I can disconnect or something? Thanks in advance!

Welcome to Jeepz. Unfortunately, once the VTSS has been enabled in the network configuration it cannot be disabled without an extensive network re-configuration thru the modules involved such as the WCM(wireless control module) , instrument cluster and the PCM(powertrain control module. The only way to do this is to take it to a Dealership with a knowlegable experienced service tech. It's much cheaper to just purchase the key that comes with that unit. The key has an integrated remote keyless entry remote. The key you have now is probbably the gray key that has the transponder chip which only works with the SKIS (sentry key immobilizer system) that tells the VTSS to shut down after the recognition of a valid operator. I would seriously go back to the place you bought that JK from and tell them that they should supply the correct key that comes with the vehicle.

Thanks for the help! That's not the news I was hoping for, but rather the unfortunate news I was expecting. Again, I appreciate the explanation.
