89 jeep YJ 4.2L

before my jeep would shut-off everytime I slowed down or stopped so I changed the carberator like a SHOP told me to? Now it shuts off Sometimes when it is warm and I would smell a rich gas smell after I keep driving for awhile it will stop shutting off put the problem always comes back. all this started after going through a small mud hole half way up my tires. It wasn't much of a mud hole at that..

well now I just did the "Nutter bypass" http://www.4x4wire.com/jeep/tech/electrical/jn-ignition99/ It helped but my jeep is still shutting off sometimes only when warm. starting to think might be that my New carb is Faulty.

Can anyone help me? avandersman@hotmail.com[addsig]

im gonna guess its a cavalier. lol and you've got a lotta mud and water up in where it doesnt belong, drain it all and get a new air filter. the real experts will be along shortly to tell you what you really messed up and the exact things to fix. [addsig]

Hmmm.... sounds like a carb. prob of some kind. But since it still does it, I am not sure what else to check. Is it possible that you may have gotten a faulty carb?? Other than that I would just check all your air/fuel parts to make sure they are in working order. Just be glad its carb'd, those are usually easier to work on and fix since they don't have all the valves and other parts assoc't with fuel injection. Also, could you give us some more info on whats happenin and what your Jeep is?

-Fixin a Jeep after you break it is always fun.. depending on your definition of fun...-
