hi, i was "donated" a 1980 jeep wagoneer. 360 amc, dana 44 front, amc in the rear. i am looking for any advice/ideas on how to make this beast a daily driver/off road buggy. it has a homemade 2 in lift that i will be reworking and the floor panels are rusted out in spots. it has sat up for 13 years and i am currently installing the transmission so i can get it running. any thoughts or ideas will be greatly appreciated.

I would start with the engine. Cap, rotor ,wires and sparkplugs. Rebuild the carburator or upgrade. Since it's been sitting for 13 years , i would assume that there's going to be some crap sitting on the bottom of the float bowls. Change all the fluids. If you or someone you know is a decent welder, cut and patch the rusted areas with a sheet metal then roll some rust prevention paint on it. Check all the vacuum lines and radiator hoses. Replace the radiator cap and fuel filter. Drain the old fuel out and inspect the old fuel that comes out for debris like rust.

well, there is one upside to all that. it came with a carter thermoquad 4bbl that was rebuilt and never installed. i am a pretty ok welder so i shouldnt have issues welding in new floor pans. i will be taking more pics once i get back out to my shop. the ones i have arent the best with the lighting. the jeep has had the gm distributor upgrade done to it so i must find the correct rotor and cap that goes with it. im not so much of a noob when it comes to engines but i am a total noob when it comes to jeeps and their drivetrains and the numerous quirks involved.

thanks man, is that carter carb i have any good for a daily driver? if not i have an edelbrock i can throw on too.

I'd go with the Edelbrock. Much more reliable than the carter.

very cool. i am kinda sidetracked on that project at the moment. i just picked up an 1994 plymouth acclaim for free and i just got it running. it will be the wifes car since she hates her nissan. has anyone installed a rochester quadrajet on a 360? if so how well did it do?
