hi, i'm new here, and just had a couple questions for you jeep lovers. i'm in the market for a new (well used, but new to me) car. i've been looking intently at jeep grand cherokees. something around a '95-'96. i was just wondering what to look for, how long jeeps usually last mileage-wise and anything else you can think of that might be helpful. i'm looking for the 6 cylinder, not the v8, but any information you can give me would be much appreciated. thanks.

Hi,

It would be hard to predict how long a Jeep will last mileage-wise, since it depends on things such as driving styles, attention to maintenance, etc.. on the part of the Jeep Owner. I've got a Cherokee with 409,xxx Miles on the dash, but I've also heard of other's Cherokees only lasting say 200,xxx miles....

I don't know if you are set on getting a grand cherokee or not, but there is a fairly recent thread in this message board debating between Grand Cherokee and Cherokee. :mrgreen:

100k mile maintance?

Thanks for the input Nick, I just bought a 1996 Grand Cherokee Laredo today. Got a good deal, havent picked it up yet though cause they are putting new tires on it for me and I have to square away insurance and registration (damn buying a car on a sunday afternoon). Really excited about it though, just cant wait to get it home now.
