I need more power from my 2.5

i have a 85 cj7 with the 2.5. It sits on 33s and cant seem to get it over 45mph. Its a great running little motor but need to get a little more power from it. Is there any mods i can do to bump up the hp without doing a swap?

you can regear the axles so you can get on the highway.

i don't think you can do much with those older 2.5l engines. i had one in a commanche and it was a dog.

Welcome to the Z. Best thing you can do is regear the axles, or find some donor axles with lower gearing (numerically higher).

D44 with 5.13 gears would be a good mod to increase your performance... And dont listen to the charts that say 4.88 is the right gear for 33's; I run that setup, and wish I would co to 5.13 (I used to run 4.88 with 31's before, and IT ROCKED!)
