holley carb to 79 cj7

i finally got sick and tired of messing with my carterbbd carb. i put a holley on but am puzzled as to how the throttle is set up. i have put a 500cfm,manual choke carb. on. i tried to use the original throttle cable and bracket that attaches under the manifold, but the go pedal is like real hard to push down, and i was thinking of just running the accelerator cable from the pedal straight to the carb, but how do i hold the cable on a bracket? any one put a holley on their 258, 3 spd standard trans? i got it licked. i made a bracket that bolts on behind my egr valve to hold a return spring from the lower part of the 6 cyl. linkage. was able to use all my original linkages now, just had to shave little bit off egr valve as accelerator rod was rubbing slightly. now that it running good i can go back to ford v8 conversion and i can even use new carb. on the 302. i love it when a plan comes together.lol.[addsig]
