Hi im wondering if anyone would give me some insider experince. I am currently looking for a jeep to purchase out here in alberta, and im was wondering if someone would give me a little heads up on which would be good to buy and what wouldnt be.

What sorts of price ranges to be looking for. What I should not attempt to do for a project.

Aspects like that would really help me out. If anyone is willing i would really apperciate it. Thanks alot

You looking for an older Jeep? Wrangler, Cherokee? I'd start by finding the year of Jeep you thing looks coolest, then investigate from there.[addsig]

I always spend alot of time crawling around under my potential purchase, with a flashlight and somebody (a buddy) with a notepad. And I make a running list of things that I find wrong or that are questionable. Then estimate what it will cost to get it right. Paying close attention to rusted out areas and anything that is excessively loose when grabbed and shaken (front end parts and drivetrain parts). I´m normally not nearly as concerned about how it looks as how much money I´m going to have to stick in it, to make it reliable. Pretty and brokedown isn´t nearly as nice as ugly and running.

I bought my latest jeep about 2 years ago. I found you can pick up a jeep with just a soft top or one with a hard top, soft top and bikini top for close to the same price. Also, most jeeps owned by women haven't been 4 wheeled or very little so they're usually in a little better shape...just make sure the oil has been changed. Just to give you an idea, I picked up my 93 YJ 4.0L 2 years ago for about $9500. Canadian which included all three tops....I live in Vancouver, BC.[addsig]

I agree with Terry Mason 1st find the jeep style that you like the best and then go from there. 2nd find your price range. 3rd go for a jeep that is ready to go. 4th make it like you like cause a jeep is many a splend thing from rock crawler to blvd. crusier. 5th if you deside you want a (1st) yj, You have alot of money (2nd) to spend. You want a jeep ready to (3rd) go. Call me and I have a deal for you!
