We were just at the notary getting an 1988 wagoneer limited, I've worked on it all week, giving it a full on tuneup, including replacement of hoses, plugs, wires, everything. The jeep ran great, being that we paid 200 for it, buying it only for fun use.. mud. But, on the way home from the notary the car just died, and right before that, the aftermarket stereo kept losing and regaining power... Its something to do with electrical, of course since the lights can't even keep power after a 10 minute jump. Sounds like the battery took a crap right? or am I wrong.. It's my first jeep and maybe someone knows of another electrical problem thats frequently had with this make. If it was the alternator, I would believe that the vehicle would at least hold a charge for at least a second before dying. Thanks for any advice, as soon as possible because tomorrow I'm going to go get the batt. checked, and replaced. :x

Sounds like the alternator is gone and the battery can't keep charge. If the radio started fading out, then the alternator definantly went. Have it checked at the parts store. I hate electrical problems. Good Luck!

Just got the battery completely charged.. no warnings that the alternator was going.. but the battery just kept wanting to die... I pulled over, looked under the hood, followed the battery cables to make sure that they were in tact, and found that my negotive battery cable was stripped.. no casing on the wires what-so-ever.. just the bare wires. I'm replacing them tomorrow. that's hopefully my prob.. if not then I guess I'm changing the alternator, which I really don't want to do because of the pain in the ass severity. Opinions, please..
