Help identifying Jeep model

Hi, everyone!

I'm working on a project detailing the Silent Hill video game series. The main character of the first game wrecks his Jeep. I need to know the model and year, but, unfortunately, I don't know anything about Jeeps, so I figured I'd ask the experts. What model is the Jeep in the image, and what is the earliest possible year Harry could be driving it?

I apologize for the graphics, but it's not exactly the newest game :lol:

It's a YJ Wrangler.production was halted in 1995. some leftover parts produced a few 96 models. TJ was later introduced in 1997. i could be wrong but it's definitely a YJ.

AH! I figured it was a Wrangler, but I had to make sure. I was trying to resolve a debate about when the events of the game took place. Someone was saying that the year was 1980, but I was sure that his Jeep wasn't available before '87.

1980 would have been a CJ. No Problem.
