HELP! Danged Exhaust flange!!!

I have a flange on my XJ for the headers to bolt to the catalytic converter. However, it is only present on the 2000 and 2001 XJ. The headers themselves are fine. HOWEVER, I do not want to shell out like 200 to 300 bux for a factory OEM catalytic converter. And sshhhh... I wanna run no cats and heres my perfect chance.
I need to find some sort of universal flange. Its shaped like a shield with the staggered upper two bolts.

like this: its a rough mock up, notice theres no exhaust hole here. Just the bolt holes. Need help with this. I need a name for it, so I can get it from a Monroe Muffler or something.

wow! its 648 dollars not including tax for a new catalytic converter. WTF?

Icy,

Hey a good exhaust garage should be able to cut the old flange off and weld on one designed to fit most all converters. Key word there"should be".

Then you will be able to buy a decent priced cat for about $125.

Funny thing on my cat, I took it down to do some other work and it slipped out of my hands and fell on the garage floor knocking all of the junk out of the inside.

Mine runs and sounds better with a gutted cat.

Re: God Bless Technology!

What I did was have my rotted out cat cut off and my flowmaster welded on with no cats. My headers on the 2001 has 2 cats merged into the collector tubes.
All those of you with 2000 or 2001's look at your headers and you'll see what I mean.
No tailpipes after the flowmaster OF COURSE....
Brings me one step closer to modelling my new XJ after my olf XJ. (::winks::)
