Hey Guys,

Just picked up a new '03 Wrangler X with a hard top and full metal doors. I also have the interior light package.

Yesterday, I took the hardtop and the doors off for the first time. The four interior lights stayed on the whole time. Aside from removing the bulbs, is there anything I can do to turn off the interior lights when I have my doors off?

I called the Daimler-Chrysler 800# on the Jeep website and the lady said the doors are not meant to be taken off!!! LOL, can you believe she said that!? What a bunch of shit. She told me to take out the bulbs - wow what a big help! I am glad I paid $25,000 and have to remove my own bulbs.

Any ideas guys???

Thanks a bunch...lata on, Keith

Remove the #4 fuse that will dis-able the Door switches.

P.S. Once you do that remember that you will loose the Door buzzer. but then again that only effects the Lights. You don't have to worry about locking the Keys in the Jeep HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Holy Crap I just got myself tickled. LOL  At least I can amuse myself.

Hey Fellow Jersey Jeeper,
Welcome to the board and you came to the right place, this forum is one of the best out there if I do say so myself.
First of all, I can't believe that the lady said the doors wern't made to be taken off! You would think they would hire someone that actually knows about the product the company she works for is producing, crazy.
When I took my doors off I just disconnected the wire connector on the back of the door light switch. It takes no time at all and can easliy be put back on. I have a YJ though and I am only assuming the TJ has the same set up. Just take a look behind the little button that the door hits, there should be one or two connectors, then put your bulbs back in!

you can't get to the Driver side without taking the dash off, on a TJ

Oh yeah that Fuse is in the fuse box behinf the Glove box. Best to go ahead and have some needle nose pliers. ;)
