Hi experts,
I have a 4DR5 J20 long wheel engine and the original heater meter was broken. I tried to repair it by giving it to a auto electrician but the opinion was that it could not be fixed. Therefore, i replaced a new japanese heater meter on the dashboard.
But the problem is that when i drive the jeep for about 5km, meter indicator reaches the 100 celcious mark and stay there. I do not think the engine is boiling because i sometimes drive the the jeep for 20-30km at a strech without stopping.
Appreciate the advice.
Thanks
4DR5

I'm no expert on this but i really think that the coolant is important in the cooling system with a 50/50 mix to help the engine maintain a normal operating temperature and help lubricate the water pump as well. Since my lack of familliarity on this particular engine specification, normally, an ECT sensor is a 5Volt sensor. If the voltage falls within specs., check the resistance on the sensor. It should change gradually as the engine warms up and vary as the cooling fans kicks on and off. If the sensor resistance climbs up to a certain degree and stays there, i would have to call it a bad sensor. I really think there should be coolant in the system though.
