Hey guys, I am getting ready to install my new header to replace my existing one (it has a crack) and was wondering if anyone has any tips or things I should watch out for.

FYI it's a Headman Header with dual outlets on a 258... I also have a Clifford intake

Thanks

make shure the header flange and intake flange are the same thickness.
i got an offenhauser intake and pacesetter headers (both diffrent thicknesses) it took me modifying two extra gaskets and some rtv to get the header to stop leaking. just try to use little to no rtv if possible.

just something to look out for

load it up with WD40 or something the night b4 u try to take them old nuts and bolts out. it will make it alot easier..

finished the install, here are some links to pics

new headers unboxed from summit

carb off ready to pull intake and exhaust

showing crack in previous header at cyl #4

side of block just before cleaning with everything off

everything back in and broken in. notice the paint is starting to burn off

it went smooth only problem was when i noticed where the header pipe and collector clamp joined, it was hitting the clutch fork. just had to turn it a bit and everything was ok. Sounds much, much better now! also runs a bit smother and was quicker to warm up. very happy!

looks good, hope it preforms better too, and less noise hehe

hope that the cleaning stage you mentioned meant cleaning the carbon out of those ports. Looks sweet though. How long did it take you???

yep, cleaned the ports and block and about everything i could reach with all the junk torn out. spent 4 hours taking stuff out and cleaning and another 2.5 hours putting stuff back in and getting everything torqued.
