I'm not really fluent in these thing's so I have a few ?. I'm looking at a used Garmin GPS Map76-am, I'm assuming that it's a few year's old since I can't find it in my old cabeala's catalog's. Does anyone know anything about these unit's? I know it doesn't have topo, that would have to be downloaded. The guy's asking $125 for it, then I would have to pay extra for the topo stuff, right? Is it complicated to download this stuff from a computer? Thank's.

Ya usually any maps or anything like that which you download cost money. I've got an older Garmin (can't remember which model) and ya it's usually super easy to download the stuff and put it on there...I just don't use it enough to fork out the money for better maps. It would be pretty sweet to get some topo maps if I could find a place out there to get them for free!

If i was you ,i wouldn't buy it for that price.. You can buy a Magellan Road Mate 1200 for $149.00 brand new with support and registration to download the updates from your pc for free.. I have one in my Jeep. it's got a removable memory card, Car adapter and a Car mount. it has it's own battery so you can take it with you on the Trail on foot.. i bought this last year and it was on sale at Circuit City for $69.00.. it's not complicated to download the maps at all. mostly self explanatory..
