Greasable Vs. Non-greasable

I'm trying to get information on shackle lifts, and wondering what the advantages and disadvantages are of each. I'm only planning on a 1" shackle lift to get a little more clearance. Thanks for the help.
 

Oh, and what brand you guys think make the best shackle lifts.

Why not go with 2" since you're taking everything loose anyway? the extra inch will do you some good. As for greasable vs non-greasable, It doesn't make a whold lot of difference in the short term... it'll be years before you see any wear.

A 2" shackle lift means having a shackle 4" longer than stock, and 8" between shackle bolts is just WAY too much. It'll make for some funky handling and pinion angles, not to mention decreasing your approach and departure angles. Take it from experience, the shackles will hit everything offroad.

I suggest keeping shackle lifts at a minimum and look elsewhere for the needed lift. There are other alternatives just as inexpensive or cheaper.
 

No question, 1" lift MAX. Greaseable refers to the bolts, and you can buy them seperately or they may come with the shackles. Good idea to get greaseable ones but not needed.

Ask the place/person you buy from how long they are (between holes). Subtract 4" (stock length) then half of what's left is how much lift you'll gain.

(6" shackles minus 4" stock length = 2" longer than stock... 1" lift)
 
I bought new dick cepeck 1 3/8" shackles off ebay for $12 shipped. They are by all means strong enough to withstand abuse offroad and come in different sizes.
 
RE: 3.5" BDS or 4" RE?

I'm set on 1" b/c I don't want the other issues. I thought that's how they were measured but I wasn't sure. Now are there any particular companies that you guys recommend? Or should I just fab up some beefy ones myself, that I know will hold up.

Fab 'em up. Just get some 2" wide, 1/4" thick steel. Paint em and drillem. Ready to roll.
