GM has recalled 30 Million vehicles for 2014 (and the clock is still ticking!)

It would appear that GM just keeps rolling out the recalls, and has so far recalled 30 million vehicles in 2014. I guess that after the past safety cover-ups they've decided to open the floodgates.

I've also been hearing more and more about "recall fatigue". It turns out that a Senate subcommittee will be investigating "the efficacy and needs of NHTSA's vehicle safety programs".

Government motors at its finest. when they dropped so many viable vehicles and replaced them with junk to meet inane govt standards, it was bound to happen

I wouldn't call the NHTSA rules inane at all. There is a process for implementation that includes public communication, debate and time prior to implementation. Many rules come from conflict or trends in accident details. If their rules saved one life it was worth it, cause it could have been mine.
