gear ratio for a 94 cherokee?

hey,my daughter has a 94 Grand Cherokee,4.0,auto,4x4. The rear end went out and she found a complete rear end, cheap. But I do not know the gear ratio of her Jeep,or what complete rear ends will interchange. I have not yet talked to the guy that has it.Were they all the same and if so does anybody know what it is? I have not looked for a tag on the pumpkin,or counted the teeth.I thought the decode of the VIN might tell me,but I was wrong. Thanks!

The for a metal tag under the diff cover bolts, should be on both axles. Post the numbers on the tag.

You will need another Grand Cherokee axle, or possibly a '97-'06 Wrangler rear axle. If you go with the Grand axle, avoid the d44 as it has an aluminum center section and is prone to failure.

I did get the tag off of it today. Is there a site that will decode it?I did not have much luck finding one.I thought this tag might tell what axle it was also, but I could not find a site where I could just enter this number and get the info.May still have to scrap off some muck and get the numbers off of the housing its self. Any help would be appreciated.....Thanks. tag reads as follows

52069502
3 73 5607-5

The gear ratio is 3.73 but not sure what axle you have.

ok,Thanks for the help.It is a Dana 35.Picked one up,cheap.Found out the bearings were shot, replaced them, got it all set back up.Now...The thickest ridge on the dif, bearing cap does go towards the dif. correct? Because,I thought I had it layed out the way it came out but the bolts do not seem to want to start unless the caps are on with the thin rib towards the diff. Then they go right in. Strange...It LOOKS better with the thin rib in.With the thick rib in,the offset in the holes in the right side cap make the cap set off of the pedetal in the case,to the inside. And it looks to set over the shim better with the thin rib in also. There is also a wear mark from the shim that makes it look like they go that way,but it looks to have been apart before,so It may not have been right when I took it apart...............Thanks
