Gas fill TJ/YJ

I went to the stealership the other day and picked up a TJ gas fill that I am going to cut into the side of my YJ. I know I saw it on someone's YJ on here a long time ago, and I think it was morgster, or monsterd, but I can't recall. Any ways, has any one else done this? I know I am going to need new Hoses and I was told that the XJ hoses from a 97+ will work. But they are $45 at the dealership, and I am cheap! I could not find any 97+ xj's at the salvage yard. and they did not have any at the counter cause it is not a pullable part as they say (not a big need item).

Does anyone else have this done?

What did you use for hose, I was thinking of getting some flexable braided stainless hose from Autozone or napa but would like to keep the price down. even with a friends discount, thaey are not too cheap!

Will a older XJ hose work?

i don't see why you couldn't just use a length of cut hose

Just take a look at what kind of hose you need (curve, length, diameter, ...) and go by Autozone or Napa and ask them to let you see what they have in the back. Go during the day when they have a lot of time in their hands, and they will probably go out of their way to help you out. Start off by having them show you the one from the XJ, and go from there. Thbis shouldn't be to much hassle. Be sure that it is the correct type of hose. You don't want to use a radiator hose because it will rot in notime.-al

I am doing that too, and I've been wondering about that. For the most part, I don't think that it would matter using an older XJ, that was what a friend told me, so don't know how reliable that is.

like a lot of things in life, I will probably figure it out as I go. I might as well go pull one out of a older XJ, sure they will give it to me for short cash, if it fails, ebay it! then just go to napa and have them look for me.
