front end noise in 4wd

I was using my Jeep to clear some stumps from around my mom's yard for her... well I hooked up to a large stump that just wouldn't budge :x so I give her a little more of the skinny pedal & I get an odd sound emanating from the front end passenger side :redface: It sounds like the inner axle shaft is getting grounded down (or that's what I think anyway) but the tire still spins... but the noise scares me... Any ideas? I plan on taking my diff cover off sometime this week to inspect the insides.

it sounds a lot higher rpm's than a u-joint that squeaks with the tire rotation... almost like a power drill with the resistance set low... but from the front end of my Jeep
