i am about to change my axle seals and while i got my axle shafts out i was gonna change my u-joints as well. my local "carquest" told me there is 2 sizes listed for her. is there a way i can find out which one fits (the big one or small one) or do i have to take it apart and bring it in to sample it?

your local carquest counter worker is an idiot. all TJ's from mid 96-06 all use the 297x joint. this joint is also called a 760 joint which is probably what he is confused about.

YJ's and XJ's had two joint sizes, but there was a clear switch after model year 94.

yeah i told him the same thing lol... the problem is when they search jeep in the computer they go under "wrangler" instead of "tj" after i told them to go into "tj" he found only one.. pretty bad when the customer got to show the salesman how to do their job haha

LOL i had to go behind the counter at our local car quest so many times people thought i worked there :) but like the optimistic idiot i keep going back. last week they told me they didn't have any helper springs in their books....just full systems. ....i told them to forget it and pulled up 10 pages of helpers on the internet in 2 minutes. told the goobers i finaly give up on them...........:x

the computer up at "Advanced Auto" keeps telling me I have a D44 in the rear of my '05 TJ X... I wish!

Sorry Zach but when yours was ordered it did come with a D44 but it got switched at the factory and I got it instead....you dont mind do ya?
Because every time I had to axle work they told me I was an idiot and I didnt have a D44 but a D35 with "C" clips no less.
