Front axle pinion seal ?

I am new to this d.i.y. mechanic stuff...does it matter if i use a flanged seal on my front axle...dana30...or one that is not flanged...and if it doesnt matter what's the pro’s and con’s of flanged

Just use what the parts store tells you, or get the number off the old seal for cross-reference.
