So the float level needs to be below the sight holes. I set mine how the instructions said and haven't touched them. You know how the rebuild kit days hold the bowl upside down and set clot parallel to housing? That's how mine is. I tied out some very mild off roadie with some climbing and angled spots and it never bogged or died

Yup. If you pull the plug out and fuel comes out needs to be lowered. It should be right at the bottom of the hole if you bump the vehicle with your hip a small amount should come out.

ok, i will adjust then. this carb is so nice and easy to work on and adjust things. i love how you just loosen that brass cap and twist the needle/seat assembly to adjust the height. that is so nice

Yup they are very nice. I feel sorry for anyone with a edelbrock

meeh, the 1406 was a bit too much of a carb for a 4.2, but I also ran it on a chevy 350 and it was easy peasy to set up and run.

as for the jetting as mentioned, the orifice in your secondary sounds a little rich. dial it back and see what you get. OR if you daring, I would bump your your primary and kick a couple degrees of timing at it and see where you are at. To be honest, I quite fooling with carbs as much as I can. other than the holley in my 41 plymouth, I do not own another carborated vehicle. (not including boats and 2 cyl etc..)

my time is up from stock setting a bit, either 10 or 12, i cannot remember. this thing runs great though and did i tell ya'll that i got 12.9mpg in town only? that is amazing to me because that used to be the highway or mixed highway/city mileage and now to get almost 13 with only in town driving!!! i cannot wait to go on a highway trip and see what i get. we are supposed to go to marble falls the weekend of the 12th of may for the state swim finals for my oldest son and we are taking the jeep since one of the off road parks is in that area. i cannot wait.

i also finally found the proper evaporator and misc ac parts for my jeep so i can be back in the cool for the hot texas summers. a local hot rod ac place can get it all for me
