Ford T18

Hi gang, tomorrow I'm going to look at this rebuilder transmission. It's a Ford T18. I know the T18A is much more straightforward for swapping for the T150 I'm presently running but out here most of those Jeeps have been crushed or for those that know, they're selling used T18a's out here for the cost of a rebuilt!
So, if the case is in good shape and the shafts are there, what kind of a nightmare is it going to be in this swap, save for driveline alterations.
Thanks and a lift of the lynch lid for any responses.

I don't know much about this but you main get a few kernals of info from the information available at Novak Jeep Conversions. Look under their Products list at both Turn-key Packages and Parts. It kind of gives you an idea of what you will need.

Basically it’s a no brainer:

These instructions are for a Jeep T18 but will help on a few points. The front shaft on the Ford is a bit shorter than the Jeep version but a special input bushing from AA will fix that. Also you need to redo the back of the Ford transmission to mate to the Dana 20. Once again AA or Novak has the kit.

If you still have the stock 1978 bell housing for your jeep the holes are already drilled for both the Ford and the Jeep T18. (The Ford "butterfly" pattern is the same as the T150)

RIght on Saddle Tramp! That's good news. I'm intending to go through this trans. provided it's not missing any parts when I go look at it today. My '78 CJ5 'Betty' is a complete runner with a good running T150 and the bellhousing. This is not a breakdown repair, moreover it's just something I'm going to put on the bench and set up for when I can get it all together, trans. drivelines, and transfer case. If anyone has any further resources though I'd be right grateful. :) This's a pic from the ad;

It appears to be a short shaft (I'm hoping for 6.5 inches on the input side)
