Anybody running a 9inch with a spool? just wondering what driving characteristic it would pose. also what is the cost of a mini spool for a 9'er? (rough estamate). i dont do too much on the pavement driving, just enough to get to the trails. would this be a cheaper and better alternative to an expensive automactic locker? i do not want an auto locker simply cauyse of the scary stories i have heard of them spuratically locking up on highwqay's, roads, ect. thanks all!

wow!!  i didnt think they were that cheap.lol. do you think this is a good alternative to an expensive locker for my jeep's application?

I've seen them more around $40 to $60, and it's a great choice for the vehicle that sees more dirt than pavement.

Which vehicle you putting this under?

I run a lincoln locker in my rear axle (D35) and have loved it since first making it over a year ago. It's basically a home-made mini-spool, since there isn't one made for such a small axle. I don't think I'll ever run anything other than a Lincoln Locker/Spool/Mini-Spool in a rear axle of my Jeep.

Onroad you'll get better straight-line tracking, the steering wheel will stay straight forever with less wander. The spool won't be noticable in sweeping curves, but you'll notice tire squeel in slow sharp turns if you have hard tires. Soft tires like swampers make very little noise when turning.

you may have seen them for 40-60 but 9'' are real cheap b/c alot of racers use them.... i saw them in a catalog we have at work and they were $19.99 for 9'' others may have been higher but that was the only one i remember b/c i couldnt bellive how cheap it was

check ebay... i remember seeing a few for as low as $15 one time when i was lookin at a 9".. its simply a coupling that connects the two axle shafts together and takes place of the spider gears
