I'm not very mechanically smart when it comes to vehicles so i need your help to find out what this noise is and how to fix it... I took my skid plate off to check out my exhaust, because I was looking for a new aftermarket one, and everything just dropped down so i jacked it back up and put the plate back on. my Jeep sounded fine for a while and now it makes this louder than usual idle noise now. i have a 05 jeep tj btw.

What may have happened, is as you dropped the skid plate, the transmission that's attached to the skid and engine, tilted the engine down. This placed pressure on the exhaust that is held at the engine and under the skid. To find the leak, place the exhaust hose of a shop vac up the tailpipe. Be sure to seal it, so when you turn on the vac it pressurized the exhaust. With the engine cold and off turn the vac on and go feel for leaks. Address each starting at the engine.
