Exen fire or odd fire

A friend of mine has a Buick v-6 jeep and he can't figure if it is a even fire or odd fire .
Is there some way to find out from looking at the outside of the motor?
By the serial number or casting number?

An easy way to check (if the motor is still intact) would be to look at the spark plug wires at the distributor. Determine the direction of rotation of the distributor, note the cylinders that the wires go to in order as it would rotate and then compare that to the even or odd fire firing order specifications for the Buick V6 Motors...
