Engine shuts off

Good Morning, Whenever I come to stop or sometimes when I exiting the freeway my vehicle engines shut off. The engine light does not come on so there is no code retrieve, again it only occurs when I come to a complete stop.
Any ideas on what it could be? It is a 97 Wrangler.

is it an Auto?

sounds like the transmission is not kicking down when you are decelerating.

if you have a manual, then this is not the case
