Engine Compatibility on a 2000 Cherokee Laredo

Hi folks. I'd be a new Jeep owner if I was to do this, here's my question:

Is it possible to install a 4.0 inline 6 (that is currently in a 1995 Cherokee Laredo - that engine itself was a fully rebuilt one installed 3 years ago) into a 2000 Cherokee Laredo that currently has a V8 in it - with a blown rod.

Is it advisable and a fairly straightforward job?

It can be done. You want the PCM along with the engine.
You are giving up potentially more HP and tq by going from 8 to 6.
