8) hi everybody! great site. It took me all night to find it. I have a leak in my emmissions system. but dont want to spend any more major money to find it. The exhaust sytem was just replaced. i have two sensors within that sys.one before the cat. converter & 8) one in the cat converter itself. the one before has not been replaced any ideas where to begin looking? Its a 1997 grand cherokee with a 5.2 318 and it does not have an egr vlave. 8)

Welcome to the board!

What kind of emissions leak? Vacuum leak, Vapor leak, or exhaust leak?
I question that your engine has no EGR valve?? Let us know, we'll try to help :D

thanks! I think its a vapor leak. its hard to explain. sometimes i can hit the gas and it idles up like an s10 blazer when it first starts with that high pitch? after a couple quick thrust to the gas pedal it will stop sometime. as for as the egr valve. the I called the fatory and they saie it does not c :D :D ome with a egr valve it has some type of emmission sys he was telling me about . i did notice a vacum line running along side the the passenger side finder that starts off as a little thin tube but turns into a hose that runs down by the battery. it sucks air. dont know where it came from tried to plug it to see if it made a difference either way but it didnt fas as the leak but i did notice it got harder to start. so i unplugged it.

That passenger side tubing is your Vacuum Reservoir lines. The vacuum reservoir is in the right fender by the horn (and under the battery.) The big tube is the vacuum source to the reservoir. The other small lines go to your Climate controls and Cruise control, so ya might want to leave them alone .

If you smell Gas under the hood, you have a vapor line leak, most likely in the lines going to the Charcoal (evaporative) canister.

Otherwise, it is probably a vacuum leak. These can be very annoying to track down... you just have to visually inspect them for damage or Tee in a vaccum gauge and see which line has the least amount of vacuum.
