I currently have an edelbrock carb and some people have recommended that I change to propane. I have heard that its better and sloves all carb problems. is that really true?

no. everything still has to be tuned and adjusted

Propane is not a fix all solution, but if your carb is being Id'ed as the issue, then yes, installing a properly tuned propane kit will indeed solve a lot of the short comings of a carb.

I am guessing you have a edelbrock 1405 or 1406 carb based on your listing a amc 360, this is a very easily tuned carb, also very easy to rebuild, and out of all the non-offroad specific carbs, probably one of the better running ones I've seen at angles.

Propane has it's pro's and con's, these should all be considered in the swap, If it were me, I'd source a complete EFI set up for the motor. (or swap in a EFI motor)

i have the 1405 and easily tuned is not the words that I would use. I would use piece of crap! this is impossiable to tune and it just doesnt work. I had already posted a thread about the problems that I'm having here: http://www.jeepz.com/forum/cj-yj-tj-jk/34999-carb-problem-i-think.html. your saying that its easy so maybe you'll exactly what to do.

Holley off road avenger. Unless your motor is set up for propane. Hardened valve seats. Proper compression etc.

Yah I think I'd like to get an avenger instead of my eldebrock but they are pretty expensive. Are they pre-tuned?

all are set as a base line setting and you have to fine tune them, out of the box.

if you already have a four barrel on your engine, get a good old dependable quadrajet off a chevy motor or pontiac motor. this carb was made by holley, rochester, and carter but i think the rochester or carter were the best ones. i can;t remember to well though but this carb is a super carb and is made for 4x4ing

Ya they all need a little tweak. Some more than others. The holleys are all wet flowed so they are close. Set up your idle mixture with a vacum guage then drive it. Change the secondary springs so the power is smooth through out the power band. No lag or nothing. Take an afternoon to get er running good.
