Daytona 500

I'm thinking for the Daytona 500 you've got to favor the Toyotas, if their throttles stick wide open as expected.

I was expecting something just a little bit different....what with the widening of the restrictor plate and the "relaxing" of the rules. Sitting here now through the second red flag - track falling apart. The racing is pretty much as boring as any other restrictor plate race has been in the past. Maybe when (if) they restart, we'll get to see the "big one" and a marvelous, crash filled finish.:roll:

Think you might be onto something here, except of course if they all get recalled prior to the start!

I don't know why they didn't just keep racing and put some orange barrels around the hole like we do in PA.

or here in ohio.. but how do u guys even watch nascar all they do is turn left. Now dont get me wrong they have their place but D@MN. WRC now those guys r nutts and can drive.

There is still strategy to it, although I'll admit that on TV roundy-round NASCAR racing is not as much fun to watch as NASCAR road racing. Road racing is this week I think. I go to a few races every year, much better when you're there in person. Charlotte is great but then my bud has season infield passes and we're on the roof of a motorhome inside Turn 4, spending the weekend watching races, smoking cigars, drinking beer, and cooking much in the way of pork and pork by-products on a smoker. Been to Bristol three times, which is incredible. Pocono with my dad every July for the past 26 years, which is nice but the track is so big that you can't really see everything.

But thats the best part, When they make a left turn.....!

sounds like a party with fast cars. lol:D
Essentially it is. Some of the locals bring real moonshine. Had some "apple pie moonshine" last year, flavored with apple and cinnamon. We pretty much cook, eat, and drink constantly. One would never guess to look at us that I have an MBA and own two small companies and everyone else is either a programmer or software developer or cop. At Bristol we camp at Dave's Family Camping, emphasis on the word "Family", but down the hill at Farmer Bob's Camping, that's redneck party central right there.

maybe ill try it god knows i will not b there for the race but im always down for a big party. u know i dont live far from u. if i dont move and i get the jeep in wheelin shape maybe we could hook up and go find some rocks or trails.

I camp up at Louden for the June & September races. We usually bring the RV up on Wednesday.

The races are a blast, the essentials for a race are steaks, cigars, beer and you need a scanner for the grandstand to listen to the drivers yell....lol

They couldn't possibly air 3/4 of the stuff the say over the scanner.I love it.:shades:

I've been camping for two years at the track and now when we walk around people yell at us all the time and say "I remember you guys" it's pretty cool you start to meet and get to know the regulars.

Rent a FanVision sometime. I get mine for half price because I have a Sprint cell phone anyway. Your own little TV screen and scanner and you can pick which in-car cameras you want to watch.

Same with us at Charlotte. At this point the people around us are eager to see what sort of obscure microbrew we'll bring each year.

I used to go to PHX every year. It has always been great. Apple Pie Moonshine (looks like Homer as I type that). I have had my fair share of. Love Taledega. I drive the big truck to it every year. Camp, drink, pass out the beads. Amazing what you get for a Jeff Gordon bead and even Better, a Jr bead. lol. This year though, I have the family goin so I quickly opted for the Brickyard. We will be tent camping. No beer, got kids, but the BBQ will be on. I will be bringing my ham radio, it gets the driver channels. I just won't do like I did to Kurt Busch this year like I had in a practice in PHX. Kept saying " The Sheriffs Dept is looking for you".
