Dana 44 front off a Wagoneer

will not shift

Well then, that's just to bad.I thought it was a good find for me.But I was unsure of which side the diff was on.

Far_right, that model jeep came with the front diff on pass. side during certain years then switched over to driver's side later on. Do you know which years have the pass. side diff and which years are driver's side?

This is a good axle combo for somebody looking for an upgrade, the rear is the HD AMC20 with a heavy housing and 1piece axles stock.

Bounty__Hunter,
'79 and before are pass side, '80 and later are driver side on J-10/20 and Waggys...

EDIT: I looked at it again and it is just a few hours from my house...

why dont you put superior shafts in your 20 and drive of your stock alxes till they break... you already ave 4:10 gears.... throw in a couple of lockers and go, your wont be breakin axles w/ 31" tires....

What year's had the rear HD AMC20 and what years had the rear D44 with centered diff?

I know the Quadratrac had the D44 rear, but it's an offset diff and not an option.

Bounty__Hunter,
not sure of the 44/hd20 on waggys, but ive heard you say before that Quadratrack CJs had a D44, and they did not, im not sure that is what you are sayin in your last sentence, but i just feel i need to clear that up

What is the rear axle in Quadratac CJ's? I know the diff is offcenter, just assumed it was a D44 like the SJ's. I'll have to pay more attention next time I see one.

So would an axle like this one from a Quadratrac FSJ have the right offset for a Quadratrac CJ? I would assume so, but who knows. I have a Quadratrac CJ and I would like a wider track. Would these be too wide for a CJ? I have seen some CJ/YJ/TJs driving around out there with wheels that stick out too far and I don't want to go to that extreme either. Also, can you get bolt on perches for these things, or would I have to get them welded on?

Thanks!

Welded is the only way. Too much torque in the axle to bolt them on, they tubes would spin and cause a lot of damage.

You could use the front and rear axles from a Quadratrac SJ, but you'd need new 6-lug rims. The wider track would probably add the extra stablility you're looking for.
