Dana 300 lengths

I just bought a T-176 and D300 yesterday. It is apparently out of an 80 model because the 300 is the short shaft version or at least it looked shorter than I remember them being. I can't measure it because I didn't want to bring it home in the back of the WJ, and I can't go back to get it until next weekend. I need to know how much shorter this 300 is than the later versions with the longer output. Does anyone happen to know?

what will you be doing w/ the transmission? would you care to part w/ it

It's going in my CJ7. I heard the crusher had arrived at a local junkyard/scrap dealer so I made a mad dash to see what kind of deals I could get. Paid $100 for the transmission/tcase combo. I was figuring on having to rebuild, but the guy told me the truck it came out of was driveable but rusted out so bad it wasn't worth saving. The engine, transmission, and t-case had recently been swapped in from a CJ before the engine locked up and it was parked. I'm gonna slap it in mine and see.....

I have seen several on e-bay. Look there and see if the measurements are in the descriptions. If not look at Novak Adapter's web site. They have some good info on the 300. You may get lucky.
