The water pump started leaking in my '97 XJ, so I go to Autozone for a new one.
I figure, what the hell- it's all apart- why not replace the hoses all in one shot.
The dude sold me a bottom radiator hose to a 4cyl engine!!!! Not a 6cyl!!!
What a pain in the ass!!- But it's all fixed up now-they admitted to the mistake
and GAVE me the right hose and gave me my money back for the wrong one.
So i got a free hose. Now i'm ready to hit the AZ trails again!!! Whew!! :roll: :roll: :roll: :roll: [addsig]

This falls back to my post a while back, most of those guys have no clue other than what is in the computer. The true "parts guy" that knew how to diagnose problems, what would fit and what wouldn't, and who wanted to help are few and far between. I prefer Advance also, don't like Auto Ghetto, and I hate Poop Boys. They never have what I need. [addsig]

Speaking as a parts salesman for an aftermarket parts company, I can agree that many of the people selling these parts do not know what they are selling let alone having any clue on diagnosing any problems. The key to getting good help at any parts store is to find someone that knows what they are talking about and stick with that person. Not only will they get to know you, but they will (if they are any good) remember your vehicle as well. If you get lucky enough, they may start giving you price breaks for being a repeat customer (I do that on a regular basis with the blessing of the store manager).

The other thing you should do, if you receive bad service, is talk to the manager and explain the situation. Maybe at that point the manager can either get that salesman some extra training, or in a worst case situation replace him or her.[addsig]

Napa is better than advance auto or autozone by far. There parts are better quality and the people behind the counter have usually done more than just changed wipers before. Thats how it is by me anyway.

I have a NAPA about a 1/2 mile away from me, I like their parts better than the others but the guys who work there are into their ricers and don't know much about trucks or Jeeps. I go to Advanced basically because my buddy works there and I get 20% off everything :-D ................Bullet[addsig]

I dont mind auto zone! So bullet i like that picture of your Xj! i would like to put up a picture oF mine i have a digital cam but learning how to use it ! So i insalled my side vent window NO more PLEXI thank god ! GOOD OLD SAMs ... :-D [addsig]
