crazy operating system

i always like to try out new things on the computers, being i really know nothing about computers, ha ha ha.

i tried looking for the smallest operating system on the net and found some crazy stuff. i am typing this on a system called damn small linux which is 50m. yup, a 50 meg operating system and it works badass. i downloaded the iso for 3.4.12 and for 4.0 but only have burned 3.4.12 because i was anxious to try it out. it is sweet. it has firefox, and some other programs for editing text, editing pictures, all kinds of crazy things. there is even a forum for the system but something happened between the people who originated this coolio system back in 08 and the forum is basically dead and no other new versions or updates have come out since then.

i also found a site called tiny core that is one of the original guys from small linux who went his own way after the falling out. i am going to download it and try it out and let ya'll know how it works.

so far, dsl is badass though, if your bored and want to try something else out instead of windows or one of the big operating systems. my little p4 with 512 of ram is killing my dual core that is running ubuntu in how fast it opens pages right now.

I don't often get time to play with new operation systems, but there have been some interesting changes in the last couple of years.

My buddy's computer got some sort of super virus and he couldn't get his photos off. He brought it over and I downloaded and burned Ubuntu to a CD, booted right up and ran of the CD. We were able to copy all of his files to a usb drive no problem.

Just an FYI - Jeepz.com runs on Linux (Centos to be exact).

my brother introduced me to ubuntu in 03 and ever since then, thats what i try to only run. the kids and the wife don't even know they are not on a windows system with how updated ubuntu is now

i am on tiny core right now, this system is 11m. its the most basic operating system you can get and once you install it, (it actually installs to your ram instead of your hard drive, if i remember what i read properly) you then go into the app browser program and pick which programs you want to install on the system. since i only want yo be able to get on the net and read some pdf or watch some movies, i only downloaded firefox right now. i am also downloading a super small web browser called chimera which is so so crazy looking because it doesn;t open all the pics, it basically is a non picture browser for the minimalistic person. its very odd to use so i will probably just stay with firefox
