Not Jeep related at all but other gear heads out there might like this... Check out the Deltic engines that have just been retired in the UK. There is a lot of info on Youtube about them including a cool 3D model. I have seen engines made with two opposed pistons (submarine engines) but never heard of the Deltic design. Basic specs are - 3 crankshafts, 36 pistons, and no cylinder heads. Think of them as six Detroit Diesels all wrapped up in one compact block. They are two cycle diesels which run amazingly smooth and fast and have a very unique sound. Although they made a good deal of smoke these engines were able to propell trains up to 100 MPH. A few have been preserved but I think most will soon be gone. Best of luck - John
