Adaware will get rid of spyware, but if it is a toolbar, it's not neccessarily spyware, just annoying. I had the same problem after installing some software, the toolbar was a piggyback program that it took me 2 days to find and get rid of. You have to find out the name of the software co or the folder it created upon install. If the easy things (add/remove programs or changing the startup options) don't work, you'll have to find out what program is running that wasn't running before (CTRL/ALT/DEL), find the folder it is in (search in "my computer"), and delete it. When I finally found mine, my computer didn't want to delete it. It kept saying "file in use" or something, so I actually had to change the name of almost every file in that folder and delete them one by one.
