Don't know a whole lot about Cherokees but have one available for real cheap but it has no motor. I have a 258 6cyl from an 80 CJ7 laying around and wondered if anyone knew how much trouble it would be to bolt this in?
Thanks
The major hurdles are going to be engine mounts and the fact that your transmission won't bolt to the engine and it isn't worth adapting to it. Wiring is going to need to be done. All of the accessory drives are going to need to be modified or swapped I would guess. New radiator? I don't really know the extent of it. It's no bolt-in deal by any means.
Also depends on what year cherokee, as the front clip and firewall may not have the clearance for the 4.0L. The 2.5L and 2.8L XJ's generally didn't have the clearance the 4.0L has under the hood.
