jeeptjon37's

Hey,
I was up on another forum and most people say that my 4.0 can handle 37's. I know it can but im not sure how well. I know the main thing is gearing for speed and torque. So I was reading a novak conversions article and it said that my 4.0 weighed I think 515 or 415 lbs and the chevy 4.3 weighed 475 or 375 lbs. So is it really worth it or am I just wasting time and money for nothing.

I just want to hear some more opions and does anybody have an estimate for a price. I know about tranmissions and I might need stronger axles.

BTW could I still use a river raider snorkel? ill look into that

Thanks,
Tom

If you have a 4.0 and nothing wrong with it keep it , it is a good bullet proof eng yes it will push 37s with proper gearing
I have 4.0 in a xj 421,000 miles you wont see 1/2 that in the 4.3
yes 4.3 is a good eng I put one in my 3b but wont compare to mileage life of the 4.0

total cost for my 4.3 / sm465 conversion was aprox $3500. which includes cost of rebuilding both eng and trans and adapters and eng mounts ect the 4.3 with trans weighs around 925lbs its not a light set up
