I have a 97 tj w/a 2.5... Intermitten low voltage on dash, alternator checks out fine.. when it shows low voltage (hard to catch) the guage is true to actual voltage tested..All connections are good...Ok, thinking the voltage regulator is in the BCM do I just try a BCM or has anyone ran into any simular problems? Any ideas on where to check???/

Thanks

The alternator is regulated by the PCM. Check the output from the PCM and see if it matches the input from the alternator. Check the connectors for corrosion on the back of the alternator and PCM.

Alright...Got it figured out. My problem was the Ignition switch. That is why it was an intermitten problem. The problem is associated to the cold weather. I give the tumbler a jiggle and my voltage came up to where it should be.

New switch, really cold weather and no problems now.
