Changing a lug bolt...

wohooh!!!

The D44 that I swapped in has one lug bolt that has a crushed thread. The rear is out of an XJ, does anyone know how to change these? Are they the ones that have the splines that you just bang it out from the front? Where can I get a replacement?

just beat it out, and then beat it back in... you can get a new stud at an parts store... try and get dorman studs if possible... o'riellys shoud have dorman, and napa might

Hit it with a BFH and knock it out of the shaft, once the drum is removed. I usually pull the new one through the flange with a lug nut and several washers.

If it's just one thread, borrow a thread die and run it down the stud. Bam! good as new.

yeah, if it IS only one small thread, you can get away with a die.... but.. it you don't have a die... you'll pay more for that than you would a $.99 stud... but then again.. its good to have tools, once you buy it, it's yours
