Have a cobra CB radio and i can hear my engine reving up through the CB radio? What should i do ? It's a 25 classic w/18ft coax and 5 ft antenna.

i got the same problem..i'd like to hear some ideas. I have a switch in mine that "kills" that noise but it makes it soo low an i can't hear over the top smackin around.

I would try calling a radio installation place, most install CBs as well. They would most likely know how to remedy your problem.

Hey LGR, is your jeep green with a black top? I saw a TJ at walmart in neptune with the same description that is in your sig. It was parked in a handicapped spot... I opted for the snowbank.

where is it wired from?

usually wireing to the battery helps reduce most noise. you can still end up picking up noise from the fuel pump in vehicles with electric pumps.

the best thing to do if you don't want wire directly to the battery or already have and are still getting noise, is to go to radio shack and get a noise filter. it wires directly in line with the radio and filters out most of the noise.

Ground, ground, ground. Ground every piece of the jeep. Ground the tailgate, fenders, battery to the frame. If its metal ground it to the frame. Ground the alternator, ground the motor. Cant say it enough "ground".

make sure your grounded correctly.... if you aren't that eill cause the mechanical whirring noise from your engine...

ground wire

The noise can come from the plug and coil wires. I have seen people tie a loose knot in the coil wire to prevent this, but never tried it myself. Give it a shot, it can't hurt...much.

Go to A CB shop. Most Truck Stops have then too. You are looking for a Noise filter that goes inline with the ground of the CB. Then just make sure you have a GOOD ground preferable to the Frame and that should take care of it.

What he said..... or go to radio smack and buy one there.... it will fix the problem (the CB with the switch has the filter built in BTW)

Problem fixed... the guy who said make sure it was grounded properly was correct, i found a CB shop and he looked everything over... grounded my antenna and bought a different one (Francis 5 1/2ft)... helped out a lot, i don't hear engine noise anymore and he said noise filters aren't worth $20, he said get a condenser from your local automotive store, cut the metal U off of it and splice into the power wire and ground the other to your CB
