Oh boy, don't know what to do.

I changed the exhaust system on my 98 Jeep Cherokee Sport and the old cat. converter has what I think is an oxygen sensor screwed into it. couldn't get it unscrewed so had to cut it out. The new one has a 1/2" capped pipe coming out of it. Now the Check Engine light stays on all the time. How do i get around this?? Do I need to have that sensor welded in or something. Would appreciate any help.
Thanks, kDoug

The best way is to have a bung hole welded on the pipe for the new O2 sensor to be threaded in. This will eliminate your SES lamp and give you a better fuel economy.

Ya all you gotta do is get the o2 sensor back in the pipe somehow, welded or threaded in, like steelheadz said it'll make your gas mileage increase back to factory ratings.
