Rather us answering the same question over and over we need to post somewhere they should read throug newest posts asking the same question the person below them posted this gets old fast
dont mind helping newbies but come on people wake up how many times are we supposed to answer the same question?????
NEWBIES READ NEWEST POST BEFORE ASKING US A QUESTION SO ITS NOT THE SAME QUESTION !!!! ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE!!!!

One of the great things about this forum is it's generally laid back, and we don't give those with less experience a hard time for asking questions that may have been asked before. Some search before posting, some don't. It's a way of forum life.

Just like we don't sweat it too much when somebody posts in the general forum when it should be in the forum related section;)

We were all noobs at some point, I got a lot of help from the internets so I don't mind giving back when I know an answer.

False.. I was born in a jeep, shortly after the cord was cut, I rebuilt the T4

I would like to see sometype of "search suggestion" it is a suggestion, in turn I would prefer that this not be a "us tell people to search everytime they post a question" forum.
I mean, on one page of threads, there is at times, 5-6 questions about what tires should I get.. the response is generally the same. I wonder if all the posts add up in the data base?

If you look at the bottom of each thread, you'll see "related posts". These are the system's best guess for posts that are similar to the one you are currently reading. Meaning that if you are reading a tires post, at the bottom of the page should be 5 other posts about tires.

I'm open to changing the look of the search, or moving it to somewhere more prominent (if anyone has an idea).

Personally, I prefer to keep things friendly.

It can be kept friendly, I dunno Terry, this is your Baby but IMHO it clutters the board. When I come on the site after not being on for say 10 hours, there are 25 new tech posts, 6 of which ask the same question. all of which are questions that were asked with in the past two weeks.

I don't think a search banner/modifying the current search system makes the forum less friendly, but more user friendly.

EDIT.. How about something like, "have a question about your jeep, search for the answer here(insert link)"

take a look at the main page here - http://www.jeepz.com/forum/ and let me know what you think of the search box.

I can display a message to people based on post count. I think that I'll put a message for any member with less than 5 posts saying "Have a question about your Jeep? Try searching for an answer using the search function. If you can't find it, just post it in the technical forum."

OK guys, I think I have something that will make everyone happy. If you have between 0 and 5 posts, you'll see this message at the top of the screen. They can delete the message by hitting the X

What are the biggest size tires I can put on my Jeep? :bootyshake:

Ah, nicely done, Terry.

By the way, what's this little stick thingy coming through the floor of my new Jeep? Is that the all wheel drive stick? :hide:
